Former Moose Jaw Miller Express pitcher Logan Hofmann signed a contract this weekend with the Pittsburgh Pirates.

The National League team drafted the right-handed pitcher earlier this month in the fifth round. He is the highest-drafted Saskatchewan-born player in major league baseball history.

Hofmann had 38 strikeouts in 28 innings this past season with Northwestern State.

He pitched for the Miller Express in 2018 and was a Cape Cod League All-star in 2019.

Hofmann was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals last year but decided to stay in college.
