A Moose Jaw sports legend will be laid to rest on Thursday afternoon.

Mildred "Millie" Binner won the 1963 Saskatchewan Scotties Tournament of Hearts title and represented Saskatchewan at the national championship in Saint John, New Brunswick that year. She also won the Senior Women's Provincial title in 1977 and represented the province on multiple occasions at the Western Canadian and Canadian Championships.

Binner was inducted into the Curl Sask Legends of Curling Honour Roll in 2006.

Her sport exploits didn't stop at the curling rink, as Binner was also a stellar ball player, suiting up for the Moose Jaw Royals fastball team that travelled to the United States for exhibition games in Chicago, Cleveland and Detroit during the 1940s.

Binner died at the age of 97 last Thursday. Her funeral is this Thursday at the Crescent Park Event Centre at 2 p.m.
