The Moose Jaw Midget AAA Warriors held their training camp this weekend, and now they'll play the waiting game.

Team White beat Team Black 5-4 in the intersquad game Sunday at Mosaic Place.

The camp had about 40 players in attendance, and a lot of those will be playing in some pre-season games next month as the final roster decisions are made.

The Warriors don't have a lot of players with midget AAA experience heading into the season. “We have a lot of ‘03s that haven’t played in the league but they’ve played obviously good hockey and they’re going to have to ... come in and be good for us right off the bat,” said new head coach Trevor Weisgerber. “If we go get a couple of ‘02s back from junior camps, we’re going to have to rely on those guys that have been in the league before to help those guys out.”

Not knowing for sure if leading returning scorer Cody Davis will come back from Estevan Bruins camp in the SJHL is one of those lingering questions but the Warriors also didn't have any defence or goaltending back from last year's team.

The Warriors were able to have a few Moose Jaw players from the Prairie Hockey Academy at camp fighting for spots, a fact Weisgerber liked.

“We’re pretty fortunate this year that we had some local guys that were out there last year and they all had good years,” said Weisgerber. “It worked out that we ended up bringing them in. They’re going to be on our team and they’re going to be a big part of our team, so that’s good.”

As players head off to WHL and SJHL camps, the team will re-assemble and will be back on the ice for practice Sept. 3.
