There were just two games on the ice on Friday night in the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs, but fans got their monies worth with both games heading to an extra frame.

First in Philadelphia, the Buffalo Sabres, riding high from their 1-0 Game 4 win, jumped out to a quick start against the Flyers, going up 3-0 after the first period on goals by Tyler Ennis, Thomas Vanek and Marc-Andre Gragnani.

In the second, Philly started their comeback with goals from James van Riemsdyk and Andrej Meszaros.  Danny Briere would tie things up 3:36 into the third.

In overtime, it would be Ennis, who was flying all game long, who would beat Michael Leighton to give the Sabres a 4-3 win and a 3-2 lead in the series heading home for Game 6 on Sunday afternoon.

Next things headed out West, where the Anaheim Ducks were looking to keep the momentum going from their 6-3 win in Game 4 in Nashville.  It was a back-and-forth game for both teams with neither team keeping a lead for long.

The Predators opened the scoring on Kevin Klein's first of the playoffs.  Things would stay that way till midway through the second when James Blake scored for the Ducks to tie it at 1-1.

Teams traded goals in the third with Bobby Ryan scoring maybe the goal of the year and Blake getting his second for the Ducks, and Joel Ward and Shea Weber scoring for Nashville.

Overtime didn't last long at the Honda Center though, as Jerred Smithson scored just 1:57 into the extra frame making it 4-3 for Nashville and giving the Predators a 3-2 series lead.

The series heads back to Nashville for Game 6 on Sunday night.

The Montreal Canadiens hope to continue a trend when they face the Bruins in Boston on Saturday.  In the previous four games in that series, the road team has emerged victorious.  In other playoff action, the Pittsburgh Penguins, Washington Capitals and San Jose Sharks can all end their respective series with victories.
