Casey McDonald continued his tear at the Richmond International Midget Tournament.

The Moose Jaw Generals forward picked up his second straight hat trick, scoring all three in the third period, to power Moose Jaw to a 4-2 win over the Everett Silvertips Under-18 AAA team in the semifinal on Saturday.

Everett opened the scoring just 3:47 into the game when Garrett Powers found the back of the net and that goal held up until the third period.

McDonald’s first of the game got the Generals on the board with 3:36 gone in the third. He would score his second of the game just over ten minutes later to make to 2-1 for Moose Jaw.

Everett struck back with a goal from Jakob Stevenson just 1:02 later, but McDonald picked up his hat trick goal just 1:21 later and that put Moose Jaw up for good.

Defenceman Chase Lacombe scored the game-sealing goal with 40 seconds remaining in regulation to send the Generals into the tournament final.

Moose Jaw will take on the Hungarian Under-16 team at 4 p.m. in the final. Hungary won their previous meeting in the tournament, 3-1, in the opener on Tuesday.
