The Moose Jaw Generals are still alive heading into the playoff round at the Richmond International Midget Tournament after a big win on Friday.

Moose Jaw needed a win over the Mission, Arizona under-18 team in their final round robin game to secure a spot in the semifinals and they got it, cruising to a massive 9-1 win.

Casey McDonald led the way for the Generals with three goals and six points in the win, while Jaxon Georget picked up two goals and five points.

Brendan Kemp and Cal Caragata had a goal and two points each, while Evan Sare and Ben Wourms-Rowe also found the back of the net in the victory for Moose Jaw.

The Generals opened up a 4-1 lead in the first period and then ran away with the game in the second, firing five goals into the back of the net.

Moose Jaw lost just once in four round robin games, losing their opening game 3-1 to the Hungarian under-16 team. They then battled Everett and Yale Academy to 2-2 ties on back-to-back days.

Friday's win puts the Generals into the semifinal on Saturday where they'll meet up with Everett again on Saturday night at 7:45 p.m. The gold medal game will be play on Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m. in Richmond.
