Penalties sank the Moose Jaw Generals on Sunday as they lost to the Regina Pat Canadians 3-1.

The Generals played exceptionally well in the first two periods, but some undisciplined penalties ended up hurting them. "For the first 40 minutes I thought we did a good job of frustrating them and clogging things up," said General's Head Coach Ray Wareham.  "And then we completely got away from the game plan and took some bad penalties and that hurt us."

The General's took four penalties in the 3rd period, all of which were taken just seconds after the Pat C's took penalties of their own. The penalties ended up costing the Generals three power play's."They were super unnecessary penalties. We were trying to retaliate and it cost us the game," said General's goalie Jaxson Taupert.

Taupert added that a big part of the game plan was to stop Pat Canadians rookie Cole Sillinger, who leads the Sask Midget 'AAA' Hockey League in scoring. Sillinger did end up scoring a goal and assisting on another but did have a number of his other chances turned aside by Moose Jaw's 15-year old netmider. "Sillinger is super talented. You never know what he's going to do when he gets the puck. So whenever he does, you just keep an eye on him and make sure he doesn't score," said Taupert after the game.

The Generals next game is on Thursday, as they will host the Swift Current Legionaires inside Mosaic Place. Game time is 7pm.
