The Moose Jaw Generals couldn’t find their way back into the win column over the weekend.

The Generals went into Saskatoon on Saturday and dropped a 3-2 game in overtime to the Blazers and then followed that up with a 6-2 loss to the Notre Dame Hounds on Sunday in Wilcox.

Moose Jaw is now on a six-game losing skid as their record drops to 5-13-1-3 on the year in the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League.

They return to the ice coming up on Tuesday when they head back to the Bridge City to face the Saskatoon Contacts this time around.  Moose Jaw’s next home action is coming this weekend when they host the Yorkton Maulers on Saturday and Sunday.

Blazers 3 Generals 2 (OT)

Jake Palmer scored a power play goal midway through the third period on Saturday, but the Generals couldn’t hold off the Blazers for the win.

Saskatoon picked up a power play goal from Carter Stebbings with 5:59 to go in regulation and Max Gudnason scored just 15 seconds into the extra frame to lift the Blazers past the Generals.

Cal Caragata — who finished with a goal and two points in the loss —scored midway through the first period to give the Generals an early lead.  Saskatoon was able to tie the game in the second period on a power play goal from Josh Nagy.

Generals goalie Ethan Hein turned away 37 shots in the loss for Moose Jaw.

Hounds 6 Generals 2

On Sunday, the Generals started strong again, taking a 2-1 lead in the first period, but it was all Notre Dame after that.

The Hounds’ Ethan Ernst opened the scoring just 46 seconds into the game, but the Generals answered back with two goals in 3:01 late in the period.

Steven Kesslering potted a shorthanded goal with 6:04 left in the first and then Brendan Kemp followed it up with a power play goal to put the Generals in front after one.

Notre Dame took over after that, scoring twice in the second to move in front 3-2 and then they added three more goals in the third for the win.

Jake Davidson turned away 44 shots in the loss for the Generals, while Moose Jaw put just 19 shots on the Hounds’ net.
