The Generals battle the Legionnaires earlier this season at Mosaic Place.

The Moose Jaw Generals will play their third straight road game on Thursday night when they head west to Swift Current for their fourth meeting of the season.

After losing 3-2 to the tenth place Notre Dame Hounds on Sunday, the Generals have stayed off the ice for the past three days with Mosaic Place unavailable due to a concert.  That break has given them a chance to take a different look at their game through the use of video.

“We've been going over some clips – good and bad – from the past weekend in Regina and Notre Dame,” said head coach Ray Wareham.  “There was some face-off issues, actually all three goals were scored off the face-off in Notre Dame, so we went over those situations and what we need to do better.”

The three days away from the ice would amount to the longest break the team has had since returning from the Mac's Tournament after Christmas.

“It's a long year and these January and February months seem to be the dog days and we know we're going to be here for a while no matter what happens, so we thought the rest would be good for the guys, just to get away from the rink,” explained Wareham.

The Generals have played five games already this month, posting a 3-2-0-0 record with both losses coming against the lower seeded Hounds.  The Generals have also lost to the last place Legionnaires in one of their three meetings this season, so the team will be looking for a good effort going into Swift Current.

“For some reason against those lower ranked teams we don't play as well,” said Wareham.  “Our intensity level just isn't there and we've got to try and change that, so I think (Thursday) night's game is definitely is one where we need to prove something.”

Despite the vast differences in records, the Generals won't be taking the Legionnaires lightly as they've been played tough in their three meetings.  Moose Jaw won 2-1 on October 10th, then lost 6-3 on November 14th, before winning their last meeting 4-3 at Mosaic Place on December 19th.

“I would say in all three games we've played them, they've probably outworked us in all the games, so we need to match their work ethic,” said Wareham.  “It's a big game and we're going to meet again (Thursday) before we head out there, but hopefully we can straighten this out.”

The Generals currently sit in fourth place in the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League with a 19-8-4-0 record.  They're six points back of the third place Prince Albert Mintos and 12 points out of first place, but the Generals have at least three games in hand on all three teams in front of them.

They hit the ice at the Credit Union Iplex in Swift Current at 8:15pm.  The Generals will be back in Moose Jaw on the weekend to host the Beardy's Blackhawks on Saturday and the Mintos on Sunday.
