Ray Wareham address the Generals after practice at Mosaic Place.

The Midget AAA Generals are packing up and heading west this weekend as they be in Calgary for a three-game exhibition series against Edge Academy.

Head coach Ray Wareham says they're going to use the games to work out some kinks before the season, "We'll play three games in a row and be able to work on some things and then you start to get the veteran guys into the lineup and get them into a rhythm.

"A big turnover this year, so it's a chance to go and live with each other for three days.  You don't really know each other until you live in a confined space with each other for a few days.  We're hoping that's what this is going to do for us, so we're looking forward to it."

The Generals had originally planned to play Edge Academy last winter over Christmas time, but that fell through, and the team eventually went out to Richmond, BC for their annual Midget tournament -- which they won.

"This summer (Andrew Boutilier) called me and asked if we would be interested in going out there an play in an exhibition series and they were willing to cover some of our costs to go out there, so we thought it would be a good team building thing to do," explained Wareham.

The team will be taking essentially their roster for the upcoming season, but some players are staying behind in Moose Jaw for some exhibition games with the U16 Team Saskatchewan, so the Generals will be bringing a few prospects with them.

"We're going to take Kolby Johnson with us, from Kindersley, he's a 98.  We'll take Riley Cannon, Regan Seiferling and Braydon Delorme, get them some action and familiarize them with our systems, so that if they do come up during the year, they'll have a better idea of what we're doing."

The Generals will play Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Calgary and then return home to finish off the preseason next weekend.  They open their regular season on September 29th against the Notre Dame Hounds in Wilcox.
