The Moose Jaw Generals took a while to get going after the Christmas break, but they're rolling now at the Richmond International Midget Tournament in Richmond, BC.

The Generals picked up a win over the South Island Thunderbirds, 4-2, in the quarterfinals and then beat the Alaska Wolves, 5-3, in the semis on Friday.

Three third period goals led Moose Jaw to the win over the Thunderbirds in the quarterfinals.

Liam Carradine opened the scoring for South Island just 2:11 into the first period and it would stay that way until the final seconds of the frame when Dylan Johner got Moose Jaw on the board with just one second left.

The Thunderbirds took a 2-1 lead midway through the second when Nate Wade beat Ryland Pashovitz.

Goals from Cohen Yano, Colton Schick and Dayton Picard in the third stole the lead away for Moose Jaw and sent them to the semifinals against the Alaska Wolves.

The teams traded goals to start the semis with Connor Deal opening the scoring for Alaska.  Picard responded for Moose Jaw a little later in the frame, but Deal's second put Alaska back up by one.

Moose Jaw scored again before the period was out though as Ty Symenuk sent the game into the first intermission tied at 2-2.

It would stay that way until the third, when Darcy DeRoose gave the Generals their first lead of the game 4:35 into the period.  A few minutes lateer, Lucas Nokelby tied the game back up at three a piece.

Moose Jaw continued to press and with 2:50 to go in the game, Picard sent the Generals to final with his second goal of the game and third of the day.

Johner added another to the tally a little later for the 5-3 win.

The Generals take on the North Island Silvertips in the final on Saturday afternoon at 4pm.
