The Moose Jaw Generals’ quick Christmas break ends on Tuesday when they’ll head to Richmond, B.C. for the Richmond International Midget Tournament.  Two years ago, the Generals made the trek west for the tournament and came home with the title.

Head coach Ray Wareham says they plan on rolling their lines and having fun over the five day tournament, “Jeremy and I last time just let them go play and in between periods deal with if we need to make an in-game change, but other then that it’s just go have fun.

“After the games we’ll enjoy ourselves with families and enjoy the holidays and then come home and then it’s back to work again.”

The Generals have been off since extending their winning streak to five games with a win over the Regina Pat Canadians on Sunday, Wareham says he’s told the guys to get away from the game over the holidays.

“Don’t be stupid, but enjoy yourself,” said Wareham.  “They are on lockdown, so to speak, here and have some fun and come back, we’ll go to Richmond and get ready for the new year.”

Moose Jaw opens the tournament on Wednesday, the 27th against the North Island Silvertips.  They play the Under-18 Ice Red from Mission, Arizona on Thursday, the 28th at 12:30pm and then play the Alaska Wolves that night at 7:30pm.  They wrap-up the round robin against the Alaska Allstars on the 29th.
