The Moose Jaw Generals fell just short against the Swift Current Legionnaires on Friday night, dropping a 4-3 game in overtime at the Credit Union Iplex.

Swift Current’s Boston Bird scored the overtime-winner with 2:23 to play in the extra frame.

Cody Davis had a goal and two points to lead the Generals, while Casey MacDonald picked up a pair of assists in the loss.

The two sides were scoreless after the opening 20 minutes.

Hendrick DeKlerk opened the scoring for the Legionnaires with a power-play goal 6:22 into the second period, but the Generals answered back 1:04 later when Evan Sare scored his first of the season.

Moose Jaw would take a 2-1 lead when Cody Davis potted his ninth of the season just past the midway point of the second.

The Legionnaires tied the game at 2-2 just 6:18 into the third period on a goal from Mason Strutt. The Generals again answered quickly as Jake Palmer scored a power-play goal 1:16 later to reclaim the lead.

Maguire Scheidt tied the game for Swift Current with 4:01 to play in regulation.

Reece Hodson had 35 saves in the loss for Moose Jaw, while Ethan Hein stopped 25-of-28 shots from the Generals.

Moose Jaw sits at 6-5-0-0 this season. They complete their weekend when they host the Notre Dame Hounds at Mosaic Place on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
