After losing their first game of the season earlier this week, the Moose Jaw Generals found their way back into the win column on Saturday afternoon at Mosaic Place.

Moose Jaw skated to a 3-2 win over the Saskatoon Blazers in Sask. Midget AAA Hockey League action.

Cole Fonstad had a goal and two points in the win for Moose Jaw, while Austin Johnston added a goal and an assist of his own.  Colby Entz turned away 22 shots to back stop the Generals to a 4-1-0-1 record.

The Blazers opened the scoring midway through the first period when Kyle Bosch scored a shorthanded marker.

Fonstad would get Moose Jaw on board just a few minutes later however and they would take the lead before the period was out with Johnston scoring on the power play with 2:11 remaining in the first.

Moose Jaw extended its lead to 3-1 with just 1:27 to go in the second period thanks to Chantz Petruic’s fourth of the season.

The two-goal lead held up in the third as the Generals withstood a push from the Blazers.  Saskatoon would make it a one goal game with just 52 seconds to go on a goal by Jordan Hudson.

The Generals were 1-for-7 on the power play in the win and killed off all six of Saskatoon’s power play opportunities.

Moose Jaw will return to the ice on Sunday afternoon when they host the undefeated Prince Albert Mintos in a battle for first place in the league.  Puck drops at 1:30pm at Mosaic Place.
