The Moose Jaw Generals closed out their preseason schedule with a win and a loss over the weekend against the Notre Dame Hounds.

The Generals won 4-3 over the Hounds in Wilcox on Saturday, but they would lose the return engagement on Sunday at Mosaic Place, falling 6-1 in front of the home crowd.

Defenceman Nolan Jones had a hat trick in Saturday’s win for the Generals.

Second-year forward Brendan Kemp picked up Moose Jaw’s lone goal — a power play marker midway through the third period — in Sunday’s loss.

Jake Davidson started in goal for Moose Jaw on Saturday and stopped 20 shots to pick up the victory. Ethan Hein was forced to make 41 saves in the loss on Sunday.

The Generals finish the preseason with a 2-4-0 record.

Moose Jaw will open the 2017-18 Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League regular season on Wednesday against Legionnaires in Swift Current.

They will then head up to the Warman Showcase to face the Beardy’s Blackhawks on Friday and the Prince Albert Mintos on Sunday.

The Generals’ first home game will be on Saturday, Oct. 7 when they host the Saskatoon Contacts.
