Cody Davis scored twice, including the overtime-winner, for the Moose Jaw Generals as they beat the Notre Dame Argos, 3-2, on Sunday at Mosaic Place.

Davis wired a shot past Argos goalie Ruben Cooper midway through the three-on-three extra frame to give the Generals the win, improving their record to 4-3-0-0 early in the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League season.

"That felt pretty good, I love it, love those [overtime goals]," said Davis after the win.

The game was a big bounce-back performance for the Generals, who weren't happy with how they played in their home opening loss to Swift Current on Thursday.

Moose Jaw attacked right from the opening puck drop on Sunday and Davis opened the scoring for the Generals on the first shift of the game, finishing off a nice rush with a goal just 39 seconds into the contest.

"We were a little bit flat against Swift Current, but we came out strong in the first period of this game, maybe died off a bit, but we ultimately won the game," said Generals goalie Reece Hodson, who turned away 38 shots in the win.

Notre Dame tied the game with a power play goal from Jett Arminen with 6:30 left in the first period.

The Generals retook the lead midway through the second period with a power-play goal of their own as defenceman Jonah Reiger blasted a shot into the Argos' net.

The Argos came out hard in the third period and outshot the Generals, 17-7. They found the equalizer with a power play goal from Ethan Smith with 8:35 to play in regulation.

Moose Jaw pushed the pace in the overtime period, putting together some scoring chances before Davis won the game with 2:53 to go in the extra frame.

"It was a good bounce back, it’s nice to have another win," said Davis. "Our work ethic was much better, everybody was excited today, and ready to go, and we showed it."

The Generals were outshot 40-33 by the Argos in the win.

Moose Jaw will return to the ice on Thursday to host the 8-0 Saskatoon Blazers at Mosaic Place. Puck drops at 7 p.m.
