Jayden Davis scored late in the second period to propel the Moose Jaw Generals to a 4-2 win over the California Wave in their opening game at the Mac’s Midget AAA Tournament in Calgary.

Jake Tremblay and Chantz Petruic scored two minutes apart in the first period to give the Generals a 2-0 lead.  The Wave responded with goals from John Michael Laurin and Gregery Lee late in the second period to tie the game.

Davis found the back of the net for Moose Jaw with 1:10 to go in the middle frame and that goal held up as the game-winner.

Cole Fonstad sealed the win late in the third period.

The win puts the Generals at 1-0 to start the Mac’s Tournament.  They’re back on the ice on Sunday night against the Calgary Flames, puck drops at 9:00pm.

They will face Warriors’ prospect Lucas Pringle and the SSAC Athletics on Tuesday and then finish the round robin on Wednesday against the Vancouver Northeast Chiefs.

Warriors’ sixth overall pick Luka Burzan, fellow Warriors’ prospect Ben Evanish and the Valley West Hawks will open their time at the Mac’s on Sunday against the Calgary Northstars at 6:15pm.

Louis Jamernik, another Warriors’ prospect, is at the tournament with the Calgary Royals.
