Jake Davidson made 39 saves for the Moose Jaw Generals as they opened the regular season on a winning note on Wednesday night.

The Generals hit the road to Swift Current for their season opener against the Legionnaires and skated away with a 2-1 win at the Fairview Arena.

Zac Robins scored a power play goal just before the midway point of the first period and Jaxsen Wiebe extended Moose Jaw’s lead to 2-0 with just 12 seconds left in the first period.

That would be all the offence that Moose Jaw needed to secure the win as Davidson did the rest.

Swift Current’s Jerzy Orchard scored a shorthanded marker late in the second period.

The Generals will be at the Warman Showcase this weekend as they get set to face the Beardy’s Blackhawks on Friday night and the Prince Albert Mintos on Sunday.

The home opener for the Generals isn’t until next Saturday when they host the Saskatoon Contacts.
