It took a pair of one run games to finish off the season for the Moose Jaw Giants in the semifinal of the Rambler Park Men's Fastball League.

They lost 6-5 to the Golden Hawks Tuesday night at Lyle Helland Diamond at Memorial Field, ending their season.

Giants manager Dale Garthus said it was a good season for the club.

“We picked up a couple of players from the Regina team, and Al Muhle from Moose Jaw here,” said Garthus. “So they helped us out a lot. We had a good season. Over too quick.”

The Giants were 12-6 in the regular season, scoring a league high 154 runs but finishing one game behind the Hawks for second place in the league.

Tuesday, the Hawks hit two home runs in the third inning and scored four of their runs. The Giants countered with a Tyler Kifferling grand slam and only trailed 5-4 at that point.

“We were both good clubs,” said Garthus “They’re a very good team and have a very good pitcher. We made the most of the team we had and took them deep in both games.”

The Hawks will play the Canadians Thursday in game one of the league final at Regina's Kaplan Field. Game 2 will be at Lyle Helland Diamond Monday night and game 3, if necessary, will be Tuesday in Moose Jaw.
