For the second straight game, the Moose Jaw Warriors needed their goaltender to come up big and he did just that once again.

On Saturday night in Red Deer, goalie Adam Evanoff made 47 saves lead the Warriors in a 2-1 win over the Rebels.

Tristin Langan picked up a goal and two points as the Warriors won their second straight one-goal game this weekend.

The first period was tight as the teams battled to try and get inside for opportunities in the paint but the game remained scoreless after the opening frame.

The battles continued throughout the second period, the teams made good defensive plays to break up rushes.

With under seven minutes left in the period, Langan had the puck high in the Moose Jaw zone and lobbed it high in the air through the neutral zone. 17-year-old rookie Brayden Tracey knocked the puck down and got behind the Rebels defence, he drove the net and finished the rush by sliding the puck between the pads of goalie Ethan Anders for his 24th of the season.

Over two minutes later at 16:44, 17-year-old rookie defenceman Drae Gardiner stepped up in the neutral zone to create a turnover for the Warriors, he pushed the puck up the ice for Keenan Taphorn, who then dished it off to Langan and the Warriors 20-year-old finished the rush with a shot over the blocker of Anders, his team-leading 39th goal gave Moose Jaw a 2-0 lead.

Red Deer fought hard in the third period, they outshot the Warriors 18-7 in the frame, and with their net empty inside the final minute, and they were able to pull to within one on a goal from Brett Davis.

Moose Jaw buckled down in the final moments and held off the Rebels charge and picked up the narrow win.

The Warriors were 0-for-3 on the power play and 4-for-4 on the penalty kill.
