It was a good weekend for the Mustangs on the lacrosse court.

The Novice squad won the Sask Lacrosse Provincial Festival to close out their season, while the Peewee Mustangs also captured gold, winning the Queen City Box Lacrosse League title.

The Bantam Red Mustangs lost in the semifinals of their league playoffs and will play for bronze on Wednesday.

Peewee: Mustangs Complete Undefeated Season

It has been a season to remember so far for the Moose Jaw Peewee Mustangs and that continued over the weekend.

The Mustangs captured the Queen City Box Lacrosse League title with a 6-4 win over the Regina Rush on Sunday at the Al Ritchie Arena.

That win completed a perfect run through the season for the Mustangs, who went 12-0 in the regular season and then won all three of their playoff games.

Captain Carter Michaluk led the way for the Mustangs in the championship game, posting a hat trick, while Rowan Calvert and Liam Fitzpatrick had a goal and two points each.

Colton Ebbett also scored in the win. Josh Johnson, Lukas Salkin and Davin Williams picked up assists for the Mustangs.

Moose Jaw will now look to capture the provincial championship in Prince Albert on the July 7-9 weekend.

Novice: Mustangs Win Provincial Title

The Moose Jaw Novice Mustangs completed their outstanding season by winning the Sask Lacrosse Provincial Festival over the weekend.

The Mustangs went 11-1 during the Queen City Box Lacrosse League season and continued their strong play into the provincial festival.

Bantam: Red Mustangs to Play for Bronze

The Moose Jaw Bantam Red Mustangs couldn’t find a way to beat the Regina Rush in the Queen City Box Lacrosse League semifinal this weekend, falling 7-4 in Regina.

Atley Calvert had three goals in the loss for Moose Jaw, while Ethan Johnson had the other marker.

Moose Jaw actually struck first with Johnson opening the scoring just before the midway point of the second period, but Regina scored three goals in the final three minutes of the second to take a 3-2 lead after two.

The Mustangs went in front 4-3 on back-to-back goals from Calvert, but the Rush answered with four goals in the last 6:19 of regulation to take the lead and the win.

Moose Jaw will play for bronze on Wednesday in Regina and then head to provincials in Prince Albert on July 7-9.
