Last Weekend on Saturday, the Transplant Trot Golf Tournament kicked off at the Deer Ridge Par 3 Golf Course. Seven teams went head to head in a bout to raise awareness for the importance of organ donation, and raise funds for future events. Kevyn Gadd, an organizer and competitor in the event, spoke to its importance in his own life.

"It's really close to our family and me especially, as in 2014 I had the double lung transplant, and transplants were something you knew about, but maybe we didn't think about it a lot, and it's something that once it becomes personal with you or your family, all of a sudden you start seeing more people that it affects, and you just want to make sure that everyone has the knowledge to not only put that sticker on your card but let your family know that you want to be a donor in that case scenario."

The winners of the tournament were John, Roy, Robert and Jeffrey LaBuick, with their team score of 42. The event raised over $3,000 and with its success is sure to be back next year according to the organizers.
