The Moose Jaw Hustlers made it into the semifinals at the Softball Saskatchewan Women's 'C' Provincial Championship over the weekend here in Moose Jaw.

The Hustlers dropped a 6-1 game to the Saskatoon Solar Eclipse in the semis on Sunday afternoon at Caribou Heights, but the team is walking away very pleased with their showing over the three days.

"We feel really good about how the weekend went," said Hustlers shortstop Nicole Ansell. "At the end of the season, we finished strong and knew that coming into provincials we were kind of at the peak of our season, we came out hard and we had a great weekend, we're happy with how it went."

The Hustlers went 2-1 in the round robin on Friday and Saturday, picking up a 6-3 win over the Saskatoon Lunar Eclipse and a 9-7 victory over the Tisdale Riverdogs. They lost 7-0 to the Saskatoon Mystics.

Going into the playoff round on Sunday, the Hustlers earned a 5-1 win over the Sask Connextion in the quarterfinals.

"We were right in the mix with everybody," said Ansell.

The semifinal was scoreless heading into the third inning, but that's when the Solar Eclipse took over, scoring once in the third, then adding two in the fifth and finishing off the win with three in the sixth.

Ansell said felt they had a good chance in the semifinal.

"It was a five-run game, but it didn't feel like that, it was an intense game, it felt like a closer game, we're happy with how we played, we worked as hard as we could and we feel good about," she said.

"You always want to make the final, but we're happy we made the semifinal."
