In the most recent set of draft rankings released by NHL Central Scouting, Moose Jaw Warriors defenceman Daemon Hunt is still considered to have an A list ranking.

The rankings were released yesterday and Hunt retained his ranking, which means he's being considered for the first round. Hunt is one of five WHL players to be given the rating this year, and he said it's humbling to be considered that high.

“At the same time, I’m not too worried about that,” he said. “I think if I just stick to the team and play my game and do what I can do and what I can control, I think everything will just take care of itself and everything should be good.”

Hunt likes the amount of ice time he's been getting.

“Coach is giving me lots of opportunities, and as I expect, I’m a leader on this team, and I lead these guys by example,” Hunt said. “I think I just stick my game, it’s a two way game. I’m solid defensively and I take pride in my defensive game and but at the same time I love getting into the offense and being part of that getting some points out of that as well.”

Hunt will often jump into the play, using speed to join the rush. He leads Warrior defencemen in scoring with 10 points – all assists.

Hunt has no shortage of recent former Warriors blueliners who have been in his shoes before.

“I got a bit of Josh Brook and Jett Woo last year, because they’ve been through it,” Hunt said. “I definitely contact them once in a while, but as the spring summer months come when the draft comes up, I’m going to be talking to them about what to expect.”

The only other Warrior listed by is defenceman David Homola, who has been given a C rating.

The Warriors' next action is Saturday night in Swift Current.
