The first ever Women Fore Women Golf Tournament took place this past weekend and organizers are saying it was successful.

The two co-chairs for the event weren't putting around when it came to planning as they clearly laid out what they wanted to see for the inaugural fundraiser.

"We had three objectives - number one was we wanted to bring women together to have a fun day on the golf course and we certainly had that happen as all 84 golfers that we had come seemed to really enjoy themselves. Our second

The winners of the 1st annual Women Fore Women Golf Tournament was Brenda Fekula and Lori Boyle with a score of +5.objective was to show off our Hillcrest Golf course, we're very proud of it and that also turned out well. And our third objective is we were wanting to raise money to give out scholarships to young women in Moose Jaw and to support them, that's where the Women Fore Women (name) came from," explained Co-chair, Bev Barber.

Teams played in pairs and played six holes of scramble golf, 6 holes of alternate shot and 6 holes of the best score.

Barber said it was clear to the tournament was going to go well after they ran out room for players before the big day even arrived.

"We were actually sold out of our tournament just about a month ago, that was a big thrill for us. The comments that we got from ladies that were there and that I've received since the tournament have been just outstanding and we're just thrilled with the result."

Women from Moose Jaw, Regina, Swift Current, Saskatoon and Estevan all participated in this new fundraiser that took place this past Saturday.

She noted that they don't have a specific recipient chosen yet but they've started the technical process of awarding the $2,000 scholarship.

"That money will go towards scholarships for next year, we have people that are working on the process. We're very new at this, but we're adamant that it goes to a young woman that had a successful athletic career in her high school years and is going on to secondary education," Barber detailed.

Barber said the support they received from a number of sponsors in Moose Jaw was what made the behind the scenes work event easier, and even though they had a vehicle on site that someone could have taken home with a hole in one, no one ended up being the lucky winner.
