The 2015 Western Canada Under-16 Challenge Cup continued on Thursday in Calgary and two Moose Jaw Warrior prospects found their way onto the score sheet with differing results.

Louis Jamernik picked up an assist as Team Alberta improved to 2-0 with a 3-2 win over Team Saskatchewan, while Luke Burzan and Team BC got the best of fellow Warriors' top pick Jett Woo and Team Manitoba, winning 4-2.

Alberta 3 Saskatchewan 2

For the second straight day, Team Saskatchewan battled their way to a one-goal loss as they scored back-to-back goals to comeback to within one, but couldn't find the go-ahead marker.

Carson Focht scored twice in the loss for Team Saskatchewan, the Tri-City Americans first round pick now has three goals in two games at the tournament.

Eric Florchuk opened the scoring midway through the first period for Team Alberta and the score stayed that way until Jamernik set up Chase Wouters for a shorthanded marker just 2:01 into the second for a 2-0 Alberta lead.

Tristen Nielsen made it 3-0 just 2:31 later as Alberta had full control.

Saskatchewan didn't go away though and Focht got them on the board with a power play with 8:10 gone in the second. He added his second to pull Saskatchewan within one just 2:05 later.

Despite some chances in the third, that would be as close as Saskatchewan would get as their comeback fell short and they dropped to 0-2 at the tournament.

Moose Jaw Generals' Cole Fonstad, Devan Harrison, Connor Hayward and Jake Tremblay were all held off the score sheet in the loss for Saskatchewan.

British Columbia 4 Manitoba 2

Jett Woo had an assist, his second of the tournament, and was named player of the game for Team Manitoba, but Luka Burzan and Team BC had the last laugh as they doubled up their opponents 4-2 in the night game on Thursday.

Kabir Gill scored twice in the first period for BC, while Luke Zazula added a pair in the second as BC built up a 4-1 lead after two periods.

Woo assisted on Samuel Stewart's third period goal for Manitoba, but they couldn't inch any closer, despite out shooting BC 10-5 in the final frame.

Burzan and fellow Warriors' draft Austin Chorney were held off the score sheet for Team BC, while Coleton Bilodeau picked up a slashing penalty in the first period and finished minus-one in the win.

Both BC and Manitoba sit at 1-1 after two days of round robin action.

Coming up on Friday... Team BC will finish the round robin against Team Saskatchewan on Friday afternoon at 3:00pm, while Team Manitoba battles Team Alberta at 7:00pm.
