After the departure of several veteran scorers like Tristan Langan and Justin Almeida, the Warriors are going to be quite young this year.

Emerging stars like forward Ryder Korczak and other 17-year-olds will be taking a bigger role on the team.

“This team is like one big group,” Korczak said. “We all do stuff together and we all have chemistry. This year is going to be a fun year.”

As of now, the Warriors have 11 players born in 2002 on their roster. That inlcudes forwards Korczak, Payton McKenzie, Cade Hayes, Brydon Kiesman, Calder Anderson and Kade Runke, and defencemen Braden Miller, Cory King, Daemon Hunt and Cole Jordan, and goaltender Jackson Berry.

He won't turn 17 until next week, but Korczak might just be carrying a good part of the offensive load on the Warriors this year. Korczak was at the U18 world championship in the spring and was on the selection camp for the Hlinka Gretzky Cup during the summer.

He said both of those helped his game.

“Going down there, the skill level is unreal,” said Korczak. “Just bringing it back to Moose Jaw, taking what I can from down there and bringing it to the WHL is a big thing for me.”

The Warriors get their regular season underway tomorrow night against the Regina Pats in Regina.
