Tristin Langan scored in overtime to lift the Moose Jaw Warriors to a 4-3 win comeback win over the Edmonton Oil Kings on Friday at Mosaic Place.

The Warriors' leading scorer finished with two goals and three points in the win, while Captain Josh Brook picked up three assists and Justin Almeida finished with a goal and two points in his return to the lineup.

Moose Jaw has won four straight and has points in six straight games after the win, which improves their record to 11-5-3-1 this season.

The game didn't start great for the Warriors, as Edmonton got off to a quick start when they picked up a goal from WHL-leading scorer Trey Fix-Wolansky only 22 seconds into the opening period.

For the remainder of the frame, the teams pushed up the ice in a hurry, but defensively both teams did a good job to allow just 14 combined shots.

With 26 seconds left in the opening period, the Warriors pushed the puck towards the Edmonton net, as the puck bounced around the Oil Kings crease, Langan was finally able to get a shot that beat Dylan Myskiw for his 16th of the season to tie the game at one.

Moose Jaw created good opportunities in front of the Edmonton net in the early moments of the second period, but they weren’t able to convert.

Edmonton took a 2-1 lead at 8:36 when Matthew Robertson came off the left line and his shot into traffic found the back of the net.

Early in the third period, the Oil Kings landed on the power play, but it was the Warriors that found the results. Langan fought the puck up the ice and then set up Almeida for a shorthanded goal to tie the game at two.

With Edmonton still on the power play and only 59 seconds later, they set up Vince Loschiavo in between the circles where he directed the puck into the net to put the Oil Kings back in the lead.

Moose Jaw continued to battle and with just over four minutes left in the game, the line of Kaeden Taphorn, Tate Popple, and Yegor Buyalski went to work. The trio battled along the Edmonton boards and did a great job moving the puck to the blue-line for Brook, who put a shot towards the net where Taphorn was able to get a piece of it to deflect it past the goaltender, giving his first goal as a Warrior and tying the game at three.

Regulation didn't produce a game-winner, which meant the teams were off to overtime. With just over two minutes remaining in the extra frame, Langan broke up an Edmonton rush to keep the puck in the Oil King zone. Brook was able to float the puck towards between the circles where Almeida deflected a shot on net, the rebound came to the end-boards where Almeida quickly moved it back to the top of the crease for Langan, who beat the goalie between the pads to complete the comeback.

Brodan Salmond made 29 saves, as Moose Jaw was outshot 32-27. The Warriors didn’t have a power play in the game, and they were 3-for-4 on the penalty kill.
