The Moose Jaw Atom C Leafs had a successful run in Rouleau over the weekend.

The local squad captured the tournament title with a 5-4 shootout win over the Prairie Storm Lightning in the final.

Moose Jaw posted a 3-0 record at the tournament. They opened the weekend with a dominating 16-2 win over the Regina Bisons and then rolled to a 7-2 win over the Regina Colts in their second round robin game.

The Leafs sit second in the Moose Jaw Atom C Division with a 6-2-1 record on the year. They return to league play on Friday when they meet up with the Mavericks at the Kinsmen Arena.

The Moose Jaw Bantam A Mavericks extended their winning streak to five games on Monday with a 4-0 shutout win over the Regina Shamrocks in the South Saskatchewan Female Hockey League.

Keara Merriman scored a power play goal midway through the first period that stood up as the game-winning goal.

Kaitlyn Gilroy added to Moose Jaw’s lead when she scored with three seconds left in the second period.  Sidney Ellingson and Tia Miller added goals in the third to lift the Mavericks to the win.

Mavericks goalie Sydnee Christmann was forced to make just nine saves for the shutout, as Moose Jaw out-shot Regina, 47-9, in the win.

The Mavericks lead the league with a 19-2-1 record, which has them four points clear of the Parkland Crushers. Moose Jaw returns to the ice this weekend for two games against the Weyburn Wings on Friday and Saturday.
