The momentum from Friday’s win over Melville didn’t carry over to Saturday for the Moose Jaw Miller Express.

The league-leading Lethbridge Bulls rolled over the Miller Express 13-0 on Saturday night at Ross Wells Park.

The Bulls are the best hitting team in the Western Major Baseball League and they showed why on Saturday as they connected with everything that starting pitcher Tyler Franek had to offer.

Franek ended up surrendering eight runs — six earned — on 12 hits over six innings of work.  He didn’t walk any and struck out one.

Lethbridge scored two in the third, three in the fourth, added three in the sixth and then finished off the onslaught with five in the seventh.

The five runs in the seventh came off Mitch Gullikson, who had relieved Franek.  After getting the lead-off hitter out, the Bulls had the next seven hitters reach base.

Moose Jaw had seven hits in the game and four of those came off the bat of Marvin Malone, who had a 4-for-4 night to raise his batting average to .361, which has him fourth in the league.

The silver lining to the loss for Moose Jaw is that they didn’t lose any ground in the Saskatchewan Division playoff race with Melville losing 7-4 in Regina.  The Millers remain one game out of fourth place with a chance to make up ground on Sunday with the Millionaires idle.

The Millers will try to bounce back on Sunday night when they have a rematch with the Bulls at Ross Wells Park.  First pitch is at 7:05pm.
