Moose Jaw's Raine Eberl is sitting in a medal position after skating his short program on Tuesday at the 2019 Canada Winter Games in Red Deer.

Eberl and his partner, Regina's Caidence Derenisky, scored 36.71 in their short program to sit in third place in Novice Pairs Figure Skating heading into Thursday's free program.

The duo sits just 1.20 points back of Ontario's Owen Brawley and Mackenzie Ripley for second place.

In Novice Female Singles on Tuesday, Moose Jaw's Ryann Handley scored a 31.75 in her short program to sit in ninth place. She will look to climb the standings when she skates her free program on Thursday.

Moose Jaw's Skylar Ackerman and Team Saskatchewan found their way back into the win column on Tuesday in Women's Curling at the Games.

Saskatchewan scored two in the sixth and stole one in the eighth to pick-up a 4-3 win over Newfoundland and Labrador on Tuesday.

The win improves the local rink's record to 2-3 so far in round-robin play.

Saskatchewan will be back on the ice for games against Quebec (11 a.m.) and British Columbia (6 p.m.) on Wednesday.
