Local head coach for Control Jujitsu, Jason Church made his debut at the No-gi World Championships in Anaheim, California this year.

Having been beat out in the first round last year by two points, Church felt even more motivated to reach the podium this year, and that's exactly what he did. Jason Church ended up placing 3rd overall in the world.

"It was my second time competing last year I got beat out first round by two points which left me kind of bitter so this year I knew how to prepare, my training partners helped me through the journey and had the game plan in mind and had various goals in mind and one of them was to reach the podium so I managed to get a bronze this year, I credit that to my training partners and my team for that."

Training and preparing himself whenever he got the opportunity to, Church explains that his training schedule was all over the place.

"My training schedule was every day and any time possible, I'm a working man a family man, so when my family was sleeping is when I'd train. At the lunch break at work, I'd go and meet with some training partners in Regina and get my training in. Early morning whenever possible, so my training schedule was very up and down basically the easiest way to put it is when people were sleeping, I was training."

Church worked hard to achieve the goals he had set out for himself with the help of training partners, family and his team at Control Jujitsu.

"I just want to give a shout out to my team Control jujitsu. We provide world-class training and we love what we do, we love new people, everybody is welcome to come train with us and see what its all about and hopefully someday there will more and more people that'll reach the same goals as I did."

Church proves that with hard work, dedication and passion, nothing can stop you from achieving your goals.
