Thomas Spence will be representing the Under-19 Team Saskatchewan at the First Nations Cup junior tournament, while Brayden Johnson is suting up with the Under-16 squad at the Alumni Cup midget tournament. Both get underway on Friday.

“It's going to be awesome, should be a great trip,” said Spence, who is representing Saskatchewan for the second time after winning a bronze medal at the under-16 field nationals. “We can for sure medal again and to bring a medal home would be awesome.”

The U19 squad will have some tough competition with teams like Ontario, BC, Alberta and Nova Scotia in the six-team tournament.

“We're going to make our wins when we need to,” said Spence. “We should be pretty good.”

Johnson is suiting up for Saskatchewan for the first time as he hits the field on Friday. He said he's looking forward to representing his province on the national level.

“It feels pretty good to be the only guy not from Saskatoon, so I'll also be representing Moose Jaw lacrosse,” he said. “I think we'll do good, at practice over these last few days, we've really picked it up.”

Johnson wants to come home with some hardware from the tournament, but he's just looking forward to the experience.

“I'm just glad to be there and test my skills against other people from around the country,” Johnson said.

The U19 Team Sask opens the tournament against Alberta at 8:00am on Friday and then they battle BC in the afternoon. On Saturday, they will square off with Nova Scotia in the morning and Ontario in the afternoon. The playoff round goes on Sunday.

For the U16 squad, they open against Manitoba on Friday morning and then take on BC in the afternoon. They have dates with Ontario and Nova Scotia on Saturday before wrapping up the round robin against Alberta on Sunday.
