The Moose Jaw A’s took a 13-3 win over the Regina Clippers in their first game of the Major AA North Regina Little League playoffs Wednesday night.

A's coach Cortney Lacelle was more than happy with his team's preparation heading into last night.

“They came out and they were ready,” Lacelle said. “We practiced lots in the last two weeks so the kids were ready to play. They come out and hit the ball well. We had a few errors thrown our way so we took advantage of those for sure. In our end, we’ve got some things to clean up. I’d like to see us a little better in our hitting, But all in all, the kids came ready to play.”

Lacelle said Sara Umana had a great day pitching.

It was a fairly balanced attack as four players had two runs each, including Urana, Rylan Taylor, Evan Berg and Kaleb McCrystal.

“This is definitely what we needed to start,” Lacelle said. “The way the playoffs go, we could be facing the first place team the next round, so coming up against the (Regina) Mudhens, they’ve got good hitters and good fielders. We’re going to have to be on our game. We’re going to have to be ready to go like we were (Wednesday). As long as the kids come mentally prepared, we’ll be good to go.”

The As will play Saturday in the league's semifinal against the winner of the Mudhens- Grasshoppers game Monday.
