From start-to-finish, it was a special season for the Moose Jaw Major AAA Miller Express.

The Millers completed an undefeated season on Thursday night by beating the Regina Blue Jays, 8-2, in the North Regina Little League championship game.

"Super proud of the boys," said Millers head coach Tony Dreger. "That's not usual to be undefeated throughout the whole season and hats off to the boys because they're the ones that deserve it and they're the ones that worked very hard to achieve that goal."

Moose Jaw posted a 16-0 record in league play during the 2019 season. They were 24-3 overall, including tournaments.

Dreger said that they received great pitching and timely hitting all season and that helped them stay perfect.

"This group is very exciting to be around, they all get along so well together and they gel as one unit, which is hard to do and it's hard to find as a team to make that happen," he said.

"All year long, we pitched real well, we have really good depth of pitchers up-and-down our lineup and we hit timely, we hit very timely [in the final] and did some good things at the right time in order for us to get the win."

The Millers struck first in the final with two runs in the second inning, but Regina answered right back with two in the top of the third. Moose Jaw came right back, as they have all season, and scored two in the third to take a 4-2 advantage.

Moose Jaw added one in the fourth and three more in the fifth to finish off the win.

"We've been really working with the boys to make sure that they don't get down on themselves, they stay within themselves, stay strong and believe in the team because they have the power to do it and it showed in the final," said Dreger.

The Millers will now stick together as the Major AAA All-Stars to push for the provincial championship, which will be hosted in Moose Jaw from July 10-17.
