The Moose Jaw High School Athletic Association recently handed out its Athlete of the Month awards for May.

Alexis Thibodeau and Jackson Woloschuk starred for Peacock on the track last month, both advancing to provincials. Thibodeau won two medals -- junior girls 100-metre and 200m -- in Prince Albert to end the track season, while Woloschuk finished in 17th place overall in the senior boys quadathlon.

Caronport's Tess Neufeld also made an appearance at provincials in track and field this year, placing seventh in junior girls shot put and ninth in discus.

Lochlin Winterton and Sydney Booth from Central were both honoured for their success on the track. Winterton competed in the senior boys quadathlon and Booth finished in the top-ten in three events at the city championship.

Cornerstone's Rung Kaophutai finished off her stellar season on the badminton court with a bronze medal at the SHSAA provincials, which was the first ever girls singles medal for a Moose Jaw athlete.

Olivia Moyse and Cooper Cole of Vanier both had strong track-and-field seasons. Moyse finished tied for seventh in the senior girls 800m, eighth in high jump and tenth in the 400m at provincials. Cole advanced to the South Central Districts and placed third in the senior boys 100m, fourth in long jump and fifth in triple jump.

Riverview's Cail Moore finished fifth in the midget boys 800m and seventh in the 400m at the city championship.
