The first place Moose Jaw Midget AAA Warriors won 5-1 over the Notre Dame Argos last night - a team with only three wins that has been at the bottom of the league standings for some time - but after a short break they'll be back playing some of the better teams in the league.

The Warriors fired nearly 60 shots at the Argos in the game, and kept trying to put the pressure on as the game went on.

Warriors head coach Trevor Weisgerber said the Warriors stuck with the game plan for the most part.

“It’s just sometimes guys try to do too much and just try to get away from what your game plan is, but all in all it was a pretty good effort,” he said.

The Warriors were about eight and a half minutes away from having a perfect season defensively against the Argos. Until the Argos broke the goose egg near the middle of the third period they hadn’t scored a goal against the Warriors in any game this year.

The game was the Warriors' seventh win in a row.

The Warriors don't play until February 2 against the second place Regina Pat Canadians at Mosaic Place. Weisgerber talked about the importance of that game.

“It’s probably the biggest game of the year coming up next Sunday,” said Weisgerber. “I mean, we have nine days off so we’re giving the guys three days off. We’ll get them back on Monday… and we’ll get prepared for Regina because it’s going to be a big game.”

The Warriors are currently six points above Regina, who has three games in hand.
