Back on the field after two days off, the game didn't go the way that the Moose Jaw Miller Express had planned on Thursday night as they lost 7-2 to the Melville Millionaires.

Melville opened with three runs in the first inning and Moose Jaw wasn't able to answer until the eighth when they scored their two runs, but they were already down 6-0 at that point.

Starting pitcher Tanner Emes allowed four runs – three earned – on six hits over six inning to take the loss. He struck out five and walked one.

Zach McDonald gave up one earned run, two total, on three hits over one inning of relief, while Mitchell Price surrendered one run on one hit with one walk and one strike in one inning.

Left fielder Cole Warken had the only multi-hit game for the Millers, going 2-for-4, however the top-four hitters went a combined 3-for-16 in the loss.

Both of Moose Jaw’s runs came from the bottom of the line with right fielder Pate Katechis and catcher Zach Fascia coming around to score on an RBI-single from shortstop Joshmar Doran and a sac-fly from third baseman Lane Harvey.

The loss drops Moose Jaw’s record to 16-18 on the year, which drops them 6.5 games out of top spot in the Eastern Division. They remain 4.5 games clear of Melville for the final playoff spot.

The Millers will look for some redemption on Friday night when they head back to Melville to wrap-up a two-game set against the Millionaires.

Moose Jaw’s week ends on Saturday with a trip to Swift Current to take on the first place 57s.
