The playoffs start on Wednesday night for the Moose Jaw Miller Express.

There's still four games to go in the regular season, but the Millers will be treating those four games like an extended playoffs as they look to climb up the standings and into one of the four playoff spots.

“Every win's important, every game's important to everybody around the league,” said head coach Michael Hunt. “Everybody from second to fifth in our division is scrambling to get position and make playoffs, so it's important and everybody knows it, they're excited and they're anticipating the opportunity.”

Moose Jaw had the start of their playoff push delayed a day thanks to the storm that hammered the province on Monday and Tuesday. They were suppose to be in Melville on Tuesday night, but that game has been postponed to Saturday now.

That sets up an interesting finish to the regular season for the Millers as they currently trail the Millionaires by a 1.5 games for the final playoff spot in the Saskatchewan Division.

Just 3.5 games separates the second place Regina Red Sox from Moose Jaw in fifth place.

Hunt is confident that his squad can find a groove over the final week to push into the playoff picture.

“We just need the same thing that we've preached all year, just hopefully that all three things can happen at the same time – quality pitching, quality defence and quality Abs,” said Hunt.

Moose Jaw will travel to Yorkton on Wednesday to open their week. They have gone 1-3 against the Cardinals this season, but their lone win came at Jubilee Park in late June.

“We have won there, so it's not like it's impossible, we've done it before and I'm confident that we have a chance to do it again,” said Hunt.

“We all understand the importance of it and this is why we play game, to do well and perform under pressure.”

The Millers and Cardinals hit the field at 7:05pm on Wednesday night. Moose Jaw will be back at Ross Wells Park on Thursday and Friday to host Weyburn and Swift Current on those respective nights.
