The Moose Jaw Miller Express took one on the chin from their potential first round opponent on Thursday night. The Millers went into Weyburn and lost 9-0 to the first place Beavers to drop to 1-2 on their five-game road trip this week.

The loss drops Moose Jaw's record to 21-24 overall on the year in the Western Major Baseball League.

Weyburn starter Reid Wall threw a complete game two-hitter with 14 strikeouts and four walks in the win.

Shortstop Geordie McDougall was 1-for-3 with a stolen base, while outfielder Mitchell Robinson went 1-for-4 for Moose Jaw's other hit in the loss.

The Beavers scored twice in the first inning, added three each in the fourth and fifth innings and one more in the sixth to seal the win.

Markus Gregson started for the Millers, allowing five runs -- four earned -- on nine hits with three walks and two strikeouts in the loss.

Nick Falco allowed four runs on three hits while striking out six in two innings, and Travis Edgar kept the Beavers in check over the final two innings, allowing just one hit and two walks, while striking out three.

The Millers will look to bounce back as they return to the field on Friday night against the Red Sox in Regina. First pitch is at 7 p.m.

Moose Jaw will then head back to Weyburn on Saturday night before they finish the regular season by hosting the Melville Millionaires on Sunday night (7 p.m.) at Ross Wells Park.
