Markus Gregson made sure that the Moose Jaw Miller Express didn't go home empty handed on Saturday night.

Gregson hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth inning to give Moose Jaw a 3-2 comeback win over the Weyburn Beavers in the second game of their doubleheader at Ross Wells Park.

The Beavers took the first game of the double-bill, winning 8-4, which puts Moose Jaw’s record at 20-21 after the two games.

The Millers will now host the Swift Current 57s on Sunday at Ross Wells Park. First pitch is at 7 p.m.

Millers 3 Beavers 2 (F/9)

Weyburn struck for two runs in the second inning and led for much of the scheduled seven-inning game, but the Millers' offence woke up in the sixth inning.

Outfielder Eric Marriott led off the sixth with a single and after a stolen base and a passed ball, he came around to score on a single from second baseman Blake Gallagher. Gallagher would eventually come home on a single from outfielder Brooks Benson to tie the game at 2-2.

Moose Jaw had a runner in scoring position in the eighth, but neither team could strike to end the game.

Shortstop Geordie McDougall reached on a fielder's choice, he advanced to second on a wild pitch and then Gregson did the rest, smacking a single to score McDougall and win the game.

Starting pitcher Michael Mommersteeg settled in nicely after giving up two runs in the second inning. He ended up allowing two runs on four hits with two walks and six strikeouts over six innings.

Relief pitcher Logan Hoffman was credited with the win after throwing three shutout innings. He struck out seven.

Beavers 8 Millers 4

The first game of the doubleheader was a back-and-forth, but when the Beavers scored multiple runs, the Millers could only muster singles.

Weyburn opened the game with an RBI-double from Wade Weinburger in the first, but Moose Jaw answered in the second as first baseman Scott Platt led off with a double and eventually came in to score.

The Beavers retook the lead with one run in the third and then extended their advantage with three in the top of the fourth. The Millers came back with an RBI-double from Benson in the home half of the frame, but they trailed 5-2 after four.

Weyburn's Omar Prieto smoked a two-run home run in the fifth and Moose Jaw would keep pace with two more in the bottom of the fifth to make it a 7-4 game after five.

The Beavers picked up some insurance in the seventh and the Millers couldn't find an answer in the bottom half to finish off the loss.

Starter Ryder Yakel allowed seven runs on 12 hits over five innings. He struck out four and walked none.

Matt Perry finished the game with one run on three hits and a walk over the final two innings. He struck out two.

Weyburn starter Chase Thometz earned the win, allowing four runs -- two earned -- on six hits and a walk with two strikeouts over six innings.

Platt was 2-for-3 with two runs scored in the loss for Moose Jaw.
