We're just over a week away from the first practices of the 2018 season for the Moose Jaw Minor Football League.

With the season just around the corner, the local league is putting out one final call for registrations.

MJMFL vice-president Scott Montgomery said that they want as many new players as possible to come out and give the sport a try.

"We're hoping to build the roster and grow football as we go," said Montgomery.

"Right now, we have a real good special on, anyone that is a first-year peewee or bantam player -- basically between the ages of 10 and 15 -- registration is on for just $100 for the season. We want to see those new faces that haven't taken the opportunity to play yet."

The registration numbers have stayed the same for Moose Jaw Minor Football over the past few years, but Montgomery said the focus of their new board is to try and get as many new players out as possible.

Practices will start for the local teams on Aug. 20 with the first games taking place over the Labour Day long weekend at Elks Field.
