The Moose Jaw Little League season started to wind down over the weekend with the city championship tournaments taking over diamonds around the city.

In the Kinsmen Junior Rookie division, the Cardinals completed a stellar weekend with a win over the Royals in the final on Sunday afternoon.

“Everybody hit the ball,” said six-year-old Dom Myers with the Cardinals. “Everybody on the team played good.”

The Cardinals went undefeated in the playoff tournament over the weekend, including a win over the Cubs in Sunday morning’s semifinals.

This was Myers’ second season playing baseball and he said he had a lot of fun, “I loved being on the team and we got the gold medal,” Myers said.

The Kinsmen Senior Rookie Division also crowned their champion on Sunday with the White Sox winning the title.

In the Major Division, the Orioles came away with the championship during the weekend city title tournament.

The Red Sox finished the weekend with a city championship as well in the Senior Division.

The Minor division champion will be crowned on Wednesday night.

In other local Little League action, two Moose Jaw teams are on the verge of winning titles in the North Regina Little League’s Major and Minor AAA divisions.

The Minor AAA Astros knocked off the Regina Athletics, 14-1, on Monday and a win in the second game on Tuesday would give Moose Jaw the championship.

In the Major AAA division, the Moose Jaw Millers fell 9-7 to the Regina D-Backs on Monday night. They’ll look to bounce back in Tuesday night’s final game.
