The Moose Jaw Roller Derby is reviving the all ages full contact sport! Everyone is welcome, and their club is looking for as many new members as they can get. Running at the Red Knight Arena, Moose Jaw is building a team to compete against other cities such as Swift Current, Saskatoon and Regina.

Leanne Faulk, the Vice President of the Guild, outlined the necessary physical requirements for the fast-paced game.

"It's a full-contact sport. It's very physical in nature. our members need to pass a skills test before they can actually play a game. Which we work really hard to get our members to pass that skills test and help everyone to succeed."

The club is a positive community that emphasizes building up each other in the sport of Roller Derby. The teams are separated by a tiered system dependent on skill level and physical capability. Faulk added they are inviting the entire public out to try to the game.

"You can come on any of our regular scheduled practises to just come (to) try out. We have temporary insurance that lasts for two weeks and we have extra gear that people can borrow to just try it out and see how they like skating, (and) how they like the club. Anyone is welcome, both male and female and any age group is welcome from (the ages of) 7 up."

The group is hosting a steak night on Friday, July 12 at The Cornerstone to raise money for the club, it's all ages event. The Team meets Monday and Wednesday nights at Red Knight Arena, though new players are not all they are looking for. Faulk added, the new Guild is asking the community for help in rebranding.

"We also are looking to get a new logo. So we're having a logo contest with a cash prize that's held on Facebook. Just any logo you think would fit Moose Jaw Roller Derby Guild. And we'll choose the best one, and they'll get a cash prize."
