Moose Jaw's Skylar Ackerman continued her strong play at the 2018-19 Saskatchewan Junior Women's Curling Championship in Saskatoon.

Ackerman finished round robin on Sunday morning with a 9-7 win over Regina's Krystal Englot and then knocked off Saskatoon's Ashley Thevenot, 6-1, in the opening round of the playoffs in the night draw.

In the morning draw, Ackerman fell behind 7-6 after Englot scored three in the eighth end, but Ackerman struck back with two in the ninth and then a steal of one in the tenth for the win.

Against Thevenot, Ackerman took a bit to get going, but the local rink put together an unbelievable roll to finish the game, scoring in five straight ends, starting with a single in the fifth to tie the game at 1-1. They added a steal of one in the sixth and seventh ends, then a deuce in the eighth and another single in the ninth.

Sunday night's win puts the Ackerman team into the quarterfinal on Monday morning against Saskatoon's Madison Kleiter. They hit the ice at 9 a.m.

The winner will need to win two more games on Monday to walk away with the provincial title and secure a spot at the 2019 Canadian Junior Curling Championship in Prince Albert.
