The Skylar Ackerman rink improved to 4-3 with a pair of wins in women's curling on Wednesday at the 2019 Canada Winter Games in Red Deer.

Saskatchewan won 10-3 over Quebec in their afternoon game and beat British Columbia, 5-3, in the night draw.

The local rink used some big ends to beat Quebec, scoring three in the second and then stealing two in the third. They scored three again in the sixth end and stole two more in the seventh for the lopsided win.

In the night game against B.C, Saskatchewan used a three-ender in the fourth to help propel them to the close win.

The two wins have Saskatchewan in a playoff position with two days of round-robin action remaining. They will go up against New Brunswick at 11 a.m. and Alberta at 7 p.m. on Thursday.

Also coming up on Thursday, Moose Jaw's Ryann Handley will skate in the free program in the Women's Novice Singles Figure Skating, she sits in ninth place after the short program.

Moose Jaw's Raine Eberl and his partner, Regina’s Caidence Derenisky, skate in the free program for Novice Pairs Figure Skating on Thursday as well. They're holding down third place heading into the free.
