Team Barker sits at 2-4 following three days of games at the 2019 Saskatchewan Scotties Tournament of Hearts.

The Moose Jaw Ford Curling Centre rink split its two games on Thursday in Humboldt, pulling out an 8-6 win over Regina's Ashley Howard and then falling 9-8 to Regina's Kristen Streifel.

Steals were key for Barker in her meeting with Howard in the afternoon draw. Howard opened with a deuce in the first and Barker answered with a single in the second, but then stole two in the third to take a 3-2 advantage.

After Howard tied the game with a single in the fourth, Barker scored two in the fifth and then stole one in the sixth and seventh ends, respectively, to move in front 7-3.

Howard struck back with two in the eighth and a steal of one in the ninth, but Barker sealed the win with a single in the tenth.

Barker found herself in another close game in the night draw, going back-and-forth against Streifel.

It was all singles in the first four ends, but Barker went in front 4-2 with a deuce in the fifth. Streifel answered back with three in the sixth and then a steal of two in the seventh for a 7-4 advantage.

Barker wasn't done as she tied the game with a three-ender of her own in the eighth. She then stole one in the ninth to take an 8-7 lead, but Streifel got her deuce in the tenth for the win.

Barker still has a shot at the Page Playoff but will need to secure two wins on Friday to close out the round robin. The local team goes up against Team Mitchell (0-7) at 12:30 p.m. and Team Just (4-3) at 6:30 p.m.

Amber Holland and Robyn Silvernagle are leading the pack with 5-1 records, while Sherry Anderson and Streifel are sitting at 4-2.
