Moose Jaw's Lorie Boyle is tied for second place, one shot off the lead, after the opening round at the 2017 Golf Saskatchewan Senior Women's Championship in North Battleford.

Boyle shot an 11-over 81 in the first round and sits in a four-way tie for second with Tammy Bezaire – the 2015 champion in Moose Jaw – Carol Spanks and Cheryl Reichel.

Lloydminster’s Jo-Anne Schiller is the leader after posting an opening round of 10-over 84.

Moose Jaw’s Shelley Ruecker is also teeing it up at the provincial championship. She is in 13th place after posting an opening round 97.

In the men's championship, Ken Bradley is the top local as he is tied for 19th place after firing a nine-over 81 in the opening round. That has him 12 shots back of leader Ken Rodgers from Regina, who posted a three-under 69 on Tuesday.

Other locals in the field include: Dennis Delwo, who is tied for 29th after shooting an 11-over 83, while Todd Searcy is tied for 52nd at 17-over.

The second round goes on Wednesday at the North Battleford Golf and Country Club.
