The Western Hockey League Playoffs move into the conference finals on Friday night.

There will be some local interest in the Eastern Conference Final with Moose Jaw’s Nolan Jones suiting up for the Lethbridge Hurricanes as they take on the Swift Current Broncos.

"This being my first year and making it to the Eastern Conference Final, it's a huge experience and a great learning experience as well, getting to see how hockey is played at that level," said Jones.

Jones joined the Hurricanes full-time for the second half as the Moose Jaw Generals' season started to to wind down.

Both the Hurricanes and Broncos saw some big changes to their rosters at the WHL Trade Deadline after they swung a trade that included seven players swapping homes and three picks heading to Lethbridge.

Jones said that will make for an interesting series, "It will be a really close series and both teams have former teammates going up against each other, so it will be really close and a hard fought series," he said.

So far, Jones has only dressed for one playoff game as the Hurricanes eliminated the Red Deer Rebels in five games in the first round and needed just five games to get past the Brandon Wheat Kings in the second round. They sit just four wins from playing for the Ed Chynoweth Cup.

"It’s going to be exciting," said Jones.

Games 1 and 2 of the best-of-seven series go on Friday and Saturday in Swift Current before the series shifts to Lethbridge on Tuesday and Wednesday for Games 3 and 4.

The Western Conference Final has a pair of U.S. Division teams duking it out with the Everett Silvertips hosting the Tri-City Americans for Game 1 on Friday.
