Two local football players are suiting up for Team Canada this week in Langley, B.C. for the 2017 IFAF Women’s World Championship.

Canada opened the tournament with a 31-6 win over Australia on Saturday.

Moose Jaw sisters Aimee and Alex Kowalski are playing for Team Canada with Aimee starting at quarterback.

Kowalski completed 9-of-11 passes for 58 yards and a touchdown in the win.

Canada led 17-0 at halftime and cruised the rest of the way to the big opening win.

Team Canada will be back on the field on Tuesday night to take on Great Britain with a win securing them a spot in the championship game on Friday. Kick-off is at 8:30 p.m. Sask time.

Great Britain is coming off a 27-21 win over Finland, while the United States rolled to a 29-0 win over Mexico on Saturday.

Mexico faces Australia and the U.S. faces Finland on Tuesday.
